On Monday 3rd March, we welcomed Reverend Mark into assembly who reminded us why Christians mark Shrove Tuesday known as Pancake Day leading into Ash Wednesday. There was much excitement about the pancake toppings!  Rev Mark explained how he made the ash by burning palm crosses, mixed with olive oil.  This paste is then used to mark a cross on Christians' foreheads on Ash Wednesday.
